More good news on the health care cost containment front! The Governor's Health Cabinet has just opened a comprehensive health care information site, www.Minnesotahealthinfo.org. Try it, you'll find it one of the most useful sources of cost, quality and access information available anywhere. You will information on comparing physicians, medical groups, hospitals, health plans and nursing homes. Also available are links to information on insurance plans and even how to purchase prescription drugs. Tips on managing your own health in areas such as arthritis, asthma, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and mental health are shared. This is one site worth setting up in your web favorites table.

I am proud to have played a key role in encouraging this web site and the additional work going on in best practices, disease management, electronic medical records and consumer empowerment. My "Health Care Cost Containment Act of 2004" has been the basis of much of this development and many other health care reforms. For example, it will now be possible for health plans to send information and reports via email if you approve. Providers are now required to give best faith estimates for medical procedures. I have been invited to collaborate with the Governor's Health Cabinet and am a frequent guest of health care stakeholder groups. My work on this absolutely critical issue is paying off for all of us.
